Amy Overlin, MD

Amy Jo Overlin, M.D., is an expert in the field of sports medicine and is board certified in family and primary care sports medicine. Dr. Overlin provides care at the Hedley Orthopaedic Institute and is serving as the head team physician for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury. From 2006-2012, Dr. Overlin served as a team physician for Arizona State University covering a wide range of sports. In addition, she served as the associate program director for ASU/St. Joseph’s Hospital Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.

In addition to teaching and patient care responsibilities, Dr. Overlin has published articles on gymnastics injuries, other sports medicine issues and has co-authored a chapter on gymnastics injuries in the first edition of Netter’s Sports Medicine. She also lectures to both medical professionals and the general public on a wide range of primary care sports medicine topics.

When not busy seeing patients, Dr. Overlin can be found with her husband Matt, working out, alpine skiing or watching their two children participating in their own sports. In addition, Dr. Overlin is a second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and she both trains and teaches through the non-for profit organization, The Center for Humane Living.
